Educate Our State Chapters and Affiliates
Any effort to bring about change in the California Public Education System needs to start at the local level. Sending letters to legislators and the Governor is a great first step and increases Educate Our State’s visibility and clout, but it will take grassroots organizing across the State from concerned parents and community members to drive real change in Sacramento. That’s where Chapters and Affiliates come into play.
What’s an Educate Our State Chapter?
A Chapter is a local group of concerned parents and community members that work together with some autonomy to allow them to “personalize” the Educate Our State message to reflect the unique needs of that community while staying true to the Educate Our State Mission Statement and Campaign Platform.
A Chapter’s areas of focus include:
- Outreach to parents and community members—to offer local support and engage them in the dialog of transforming statewide education
- Education on issues affecting the state’s K-12 education system
- Voter registration and voter pledge drives—to increase parent involvement
- Candidate and local ballot information—collecting and providing education-specific information
