| Educate Our State Humboldt County Chapter is hosting an Educate Me event- Get Educated About Public Education. There will be 2 sessions, one during the day and one in the evening, so that working parents and stay at home parents have the opportunity to attend. Our goal is to help parents and community members better understand our education system. We all know that California education is in crisis. We all know what is wrong, but do you know why it is this way? It hasn't always been bad. We have not always been at the bottom of list in the USA. What got us here? What are we doing to change it? How can you help turn it around? Join us to learn about this important issue and much more. Attendees will leave this event better versed in education vocabulary and with a better understanding of our district's structure. We will also address Prop 30 and the reasons why it is not a fix, as well as clarification about Prop 98 and 13. Attendees will learn about the current state of SHUSD and Common Core standards, which will be implemented in our district by the 2014-2015 school year.
